I just purchased a 2013 Chevy Express conversion van, it was done by Explorer Vans, well at 347 miles the service stabilitrak came on display and yellow light came on, when I took it too dealer 10 pages of error codes showed up on computer, It had said 6 previous instances the stabilitrak had errors. I have a 2008 Equinox with 64000 on it and the light came on. At this point I want nothing to do with either car but would rather just have Terrain back since I have already paid so much into it. Was back at dealer for 2 days then my husband drives it back on and light is on again and vehicle is shaking. We got talked on to trading it in for a used Chevy equuinox that was certified- well the minute we drove it home engine light came on. We owned a 2011 gmc Terrain with same issues. After researching online I see several complaints with several possible causes all requiring multiple trips to the dealer to find out. Even though I like the truck it’s disappointing this issue is happening again. I now own a 2013 Silverado that I’ve had for less than a month and am having the same problem. After several trips to the dealer a steering wheel sensor was replaced and that took care of the problem. I owned a 2011 Silverado that had this problem starting around 10 months after owning it. Which was not a fun moment as i almost got nailed 3 times getting to the side of the road. Then litterally 2 weeks later… Stability control failure causing instant lose of power on the freeway.

Not covered under warrenty i had to buy a new one. However i just got the truck back from the shop from it getting a New camshaft installed as mine original had a chip in one of the lobes and a crack!!! Two weeks after that my battery died. I have a 2011 Silverado and this is plaguing me as well. So far they have replaced the throttle position sensor under the powertrain warranty. This was on a 2011 Silverado with 46000+ miles on it. I had an issue where the service Stablitrak, and service traction control messages kept coming up along with a reduced engine power message. I bought it used only had car a year with 75000 miles. I own 2007 Pontiac I been having same problem for couple weeks. If your StabiliTrak light comes on, you must get your vehicle back to a General Motors authorized dealer as soon as possible and even if they claim they cannot duplicate the problem, you want to make sure you receive a repair invoice confirming the appointment. Throughout the years, we have successfully resolved numerous claims involving the StabiliTrak system where clients have received repurchases, new vehicles or significant monetary compensation. Unfortunately, the vehicle is still having problems.

At first, the dealer said they could not duplicate the StabiliTrak problems, but after much persistence, they agreed the steering angle sensor was defective and it has been replaced. We are currently working on a claim involving a 2012 GMC Canyon where the StabiliTrak light has come on five times within the first 5,000 mile period.

This issue can happen at any time with any of the GM vehicles. If these lights appear, it generally means these important safety features are being disabled.

We know several instances of distressed drivers who are having their TRAC, STAB, ABS light and engine lights either going on one at a time or simultaneously.

The StabiliTrack problem stems from the StabiliTrak electronic stability control system. While General Motors has been making phenomenal strides with many of their vehicles, we consistently see one problem plaguing the GM line, affecting a number of models such as the Chevrolet Silverado, Chevrolet Equinox, GMC Acadia, GMC Sierra, GMC Savannah, GMC Canyon, Buck Enclave, Cadillac Escalade, and Cadillac SRX.
